History

Founded in 1985 by CEO Lon Fleming, Greenville Turf & Tractor started serving the community of Greenville, South Carolina, from its Mauldin Road location with humble beginnings. With a focus on serving clients ranging from local residents to commercial landscape companies, GT&T soon honed its skills of exceptional customer service and established its tradition of reinvesting in the community.

When John Deere launched into the golf course turf industry in 1987, GT&T wasted no time in pursuing this new opportunity in South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee and Mississippi. Before long, GT&T began to expand its market share within the turf and sports field industry. Over the next 20 years, GT&T built its customer base to encompass more than 600 golf clubs, 25 universities and 50 sports fields.

In 2008, GT&T expanded its territory to include Alabama and Georgia. This growth gave GT&T an opportunity to nearly double the size of its customer base to include 1,300 golf clubs, colleges, universities, municipalities, and minor- and major-league sports fields.

GT&T now serves some of the most recognized sports facilities in the country. Clients include golf courses such as North Carolina’s Mountaintop Golf & Lake Club and Quail Hollow Club; Georgia’s Atlanta Athletic Club; Reynolds at Lake Oconee and South Carolina’s The Cliffs communities. GT&T has served as an equipment provider for such notable events as the PGA Championship, the TPC Seniors at Sugarloaf, the TPC Seniors at Southwind and the Wells Fargo Championship. In addition, GT&T is the equipment provider for the Tennessee Titans and Nissan Stadium, as well as many Minor League Baseball stadiums throughout its territory.
